Colorado School of Mines Aikido Club

Aikido is a dynamic modern martial art with its roots in traditional Japanese kenjutsu and jujutsu.  During class students learn not only how to throw each other, but also how to fall down safely.  There is no club fee and beginners get lots of personal one on one attention, so put on some loose, comfortable clothes, stop by, and try it out!

Why should you learn aikido?

Improved posture and flexibility

Aikido will challenge you to reconsider how you use your body.  You will find yourself moving in new ways in no time.

Defend yourself against a bigger, stronger opponent

Being safe does not have to depend on how big and strong you are.  With aikido, fluid movement and  superior body dynamics defeats size.

Develop your mind as well as your body

Classes will make you stop and think. Classes are infused with history, physics, philosophy, and everything in between.

Finding us: If you are driving us park in Lot D (free after 5 and on Sundays).  Directly across Elm Street from the lot is the Student Rec Center.  From the entrance keep heading down the hallway and look to your left.  Near the end of the hallway is an alcove with the entrance to McNeil Room and a couple of bathrooms.  If you hit the stairs to the first floor you have gone too far.  To get to Schramm, go down the stairs to the first floor and walk straight, past the bathrooms, until you get to a bar like area.  Follow the bar around to the double doors that give access to Schramm.
